THE UNIVERSITY OF NEWCASTLE, AUSTRALIA OFFERS

RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INDIAN STUDENTS


The University of Newcastle, Australia is ranked within the top 10 of Australia's universities for research funding and outcomes and is a comprehensive, research intensive institution. The University's research strengths lie in the important areas of health, energy and the environment, as well as science and engineering. Supported by world-class facilities, the University's researchers are renowned globally for their ground-breaking discoveries.

The University has announced new Research Scholarships for Indian students to undertake Ph.D. research. The scholarships will provide return airfares between India and Australia, full tuition costs, and a living allowance of up to Australian $ 22,000 (approx Rs. 7.5 lakhs) per year for up to three and a half years.

In order to qualify for entry into the Research Higher Degrees at the University of Newcastle, students will need to have completed a previous research degree (that is, M. Phil.) from any premier institution in India, and have submitted a formal thesis dissertation as a part of program course.

To apply, prospective students will need to submit a completed University of Newcastle Research Higher Degree (RHD) application form with supporting academic documents to: ia@newcastle.edu.au.

All RHD applications submitted prior to March 31, 2009 will be considered for scholarship eligibility. Research application forms can be found at: www.newcastle.edu.au/students/international/our-programs/how-to-apply/. Successful students will be notified of their award by June 2009.
